Cinco De Mayo Cupcakes at the Cottage Bake-Off

The Charity Cottage Thrift Store recently hosted the Cinco De Mayo Cupcakes at the Cottage Bake-Off as a fundraising event in order to raise money for the partnering non-profits that the store contributes to.

There were 8 bakers entered in the competition with a total of 15 dozen cupcakes contributed to the event! All of the cupcake flavors stuck to the Cinco De Mayo theme of the event and just some of the delicious array include, Hot Chocolate with Rum and Jalapeno frosting, Strawberry Daiquiri, Tres Leche , Chocolate Raspberry, and Chocolate Ancho Chili Flourless. The baker to take first place was Penny Pickens with her Malibu Bay Breeze cupcakes, runner up was the Margarita cupcakes made by baker Kathy Jacoby, and the third place was taken by Penny Pickens again with her Pina Colada cupcake creations! The cupcakes were judged by a local radio DJ on VABizic.com, Pamela Wolfe, a local baker, Anne Meador, whose business was originally started by The Advancement Foundation’s business incubator project, and by Becky Freemal who is an anchor on the local news channel Fox 21/27 10 o’clock news.
