Charity Cottage – Caring for Community

Posted by Lauren_taf on June 20, 2012.

Greetings from the Cottage!  As you may know, we are a non-profit thrift store whose profits go out to support local charities YOU care about.  From Manna Ministries food pantry to Project Access Health Care, our goal is to be involved in the many different aspects of our community.  This blog will be all-things community, from our own events and happenings at the Cottage, to downtown chaos, to events and things to do in our area.

Volunteer David jokes around outside the store.

Happy Summer Solstice!

This humid weather may have had most of us cooped up inside, but don’t let it stop you from getting out and enjoying what Vinton has to offer.  On Thursday, June 23rd, Vinton Baptist is hosting the first annual Community Day and Bike Rodeo!  Complete with a bounce house for the kids and a $1 hot dog and chips combo meal, all donations and proceeds go to the Special Olympics.  What a fun way to support a cause and get out of the house.

At the Charity Cottage, we’re always reorganizing, shifting focus, and trying new things.  We’ve got some great events in store for this summer, so be sure to stop in and see how you can be a part of the movement!
